Singularity definitions

mathematical singularity - the point in which a mathematical function goes to infinity or is in certain more ways ill-behaved. These are likewise the point in which everthing functions meet. gravitational singularity (physics) - an eternity occurring around an astrophysical model, involving infinite curvature (a mathematical singularity) in the space/time continuum, namely black holes, white holes and worm holes. technological singularity - the theoretical point in the development of a scientific civilization at which technological progress accelerates into infinity or even beyond prediction. This is believed to occur whenever artificial intelligence or intelligence enhancement is perfected. Singularity (operating system) - an operating system research project by Microsoft.

Singularity Watch
"A 'Singularity Watcher' is neither absolutely convinced -- nor uncritically happy -- that the Singularity is going to happen, but they do believe this issue deserves serious scientific investigation." A website with interesting information on accelerating change and the Singularity.

Long-Term Growth as a Sequence of Exponential Modes
Trend analysis: Fits the history of economic growth from 2 million B.C. to today as a sequence of growth modes, and suggests that in the next century a new mode may appear where the economy doubles every month or two.
